A change in litter habits can indicate serious health problems; try to be aware of your cats' habits. If you notice a change or suspect a problem, have your cat examined by a veterinarian.
Other considerations:
Cats are meticulous and will avoid a foul-smelling litter box. For best results, perform litter maintenance daily by removing waste and clumps (scoop users) - and change litter as directed on packaging. Periodically clean the litter box using warm water and a mild soap. Once dry, replace litter.
When cleaning your cat litter box, it is recommended that you keep 2-3 inches of TIDY CATS® Non-Clumping or 3-4 inches of TIDY CATS® Scoop litter in the box so urine doesn't soak to the bottom.
Using a liner may help make litter cleaning easier. The BREEZE Litter System is designed for 1 refill bag of pellets.
If you have multiple cats, animal behaviorists recommend multiple litter boxes (one box per cat plus one additional box). Some cats will not use litter used by another cat.
If you notice your cat eating litter, you should contact your veterinarian, as it may be a sign of an underlying health problem.
